The Quik Fix
Printer Friendly Version
The Gospel message of Jesus Christ has all the ingredients of an abundant, prosperous, and meaningful life. A life of prayer that allows you to go directly to the very throne of God,
Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Bringing all your prayers and supplications. A life in which Jesus said, that we would even be able to do even greater things than He had done during His limited time here
John 14:16 “And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever -
In
John 10:10 “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.Jesus said, He had come to give life and to give it more abundantly.
With all of this, everything all for the asking, what could be wrong? The answer is nothing could be wrong. The bible is full of God’s promises how He has said His word shall never return void
Isaiah 55:11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
Meaning He will answer every prayer, maybe not the answer you want but He will answer. Jesus spoke of how God even supplies all the needs for even the birds of the air and aren’t you more important than they.
Matthew 6:26 “Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
(By the way I have yet to this day seen a hungry sparrow.) And God has promised all His riches and Glory in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Which all of this brings me now to my key verse?
Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
I am still focused upon the first part of this verse “And do not be conformed to this world”.
How can the world influence all of the promises and things God will do for you, you maybe wondering? Look around you and think about it a moment……….. We are in a fast paced lifestyle today. We want everything done yesterday. We are looking for the one step cure all. Television ads, magazine ads etc. are full of one step, one pill methods to acquire the perfect body. This one pill is all you need to loose weight; this diet plan will work within two weeks. We are searching for the quick fix to all of our needs and troubles.
This quick fix attitude has spilt over into Christianity as well. The internet is full of information like “10 steps to answered prayers”, “one key word to get to heaven”. Bookstores have books covering almost every topic you can face as a Christian. We attend seminars, motivational meetings, just like all of the get rich quick seminars. The churches are full of people who carry a bible into church but never open it to see if maybe the pastor is right or wrong according to scripture. They just take his word for it; he is the professional so therefore he knows what he is saying. Have you ever been there?
Not everything is wrong with these approaches. I would not be writing, and you would not be reading if it were. There are some really good spiritual helps out there. There are some good points made in the ten step programs. There is some good spirit lead information in books that fill the books in the bookstores. And there are even some good Gospel messengers who fill auditoriums. All these tools of knowledge are just spiritual helps not necessarily the way to all of Gods promises.
Jesus is life
John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Jesus is the way to Heaven.
John 14:13 “And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
Jesus is the keyword for answered prayers.
1 John 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
Test the words you read or hear with scripture. Don’t just take someone’s word for it; test it against God’s word. Use scripture to interpret scripture, if you don’t understand, pray and let the Holy Spirit be your guide.
John 14:16 “And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever – (17) “the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.
Before Jesus ascended to Heaven the disciples were afraid they would not be able to understand and continue in this life of provision and abundant knowledge He had been teaching them, Jesus knew this and knew what would be our same fears and lacks in years to come. Jesus cared enough that He prayed the father would send someone to fill the emptiness and be a guide until His triumphant return.
John 14:26 “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
God has done what Jesus has asked of Him.
Acts 2:1 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. (2) And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. (3) Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. (4) And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. On the day of Pentecost it happened, the Holy Spirit came down and filled the lives of everyone of who had accepted Christ as Savior and as being the Son of God.
Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is still here today and it is given as a gift to all devote their lives to the Son of God and Savior and perfecter of our souls.
John 15:26 “But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me.
Remember John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life… Faith in Jesus by allowing the Holy Spirit to counsel and guide you is the one true key for abundant life, to understand the word of God and to test or discern what is both holy and pure. The bible is the one main instruction manual, handed down from God, to use for all how to’s in life. Sure there are some great spirit led books and study guides. Spirit led ministers of God who are great teachers of the word. These very messages I write for you to read are just helps.
In closing I would like to say, that it is my hopes and prayers that all who read this to please take this into account and test these words to the words of God. Allow the Holy Spirit to be your guide in all of your studies of Gods word. And please ask of and always remember, to have Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
Thank you and God Bless,
Tommy Harmon
